While the original Starbucks is a cool place to stop by on your trip, stray off the tourist path and try the local coffee of Seattle. Café Besalu is one of the favorites amongst the locals offering delicious pastries to pair with a cup of coffee. Also, check out one of the popular local chains like Café Vita or Victrola.

Melrose Market

A more laidback alternative to the Pike Place Market, the Melrose Market offers a collection of award-winning restaurants including local favorites such as Taylor Shellfish and Homegrown.

The International District

Also known as Chinatown, you can find an abundance of authentic Asian cuisine ranging from Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, and more. While pretty much everywhere offers delicious options, the locals prefer the Chinese Dim Sum which is a small steamed dumpling filled with meat and veggies. Some popular restaurants in the area include Green Leaf, Harbor City Restaurant, and Maneki.

Day trip to the Cascades

Seattle is surrounded by tons of nature escapes that are as short as a 30-minute drive from the city. The Cascade mountain range has scenery that is worth heading out of the city to explore lakes, waterfalls, and beautiful hiking trails. The Wallace Falls State Park on the west side of the Cascade Mountains is another popular place for nature lovers. The stunning hike to Wallace Falls is 5.6 miles roundtrip and ends with a 265-foot waterfall.

Seattle Waterfront

The Seattle Waterfront is beautiful spot to visit during the summer. Stroll along the Puget Sound while looking at modern art installations in the Olympic sculpture park. Nearby you’ll find the Seattle Art Museum which offers tours, live music, food trucks, and yoga. You can also enjoy fresh seafood with gorgeous waterfront views or visit the Seattle Aquarium.

Seattle has craft breweries on basically every corner. It’s certainly tough to go wrong at any of the breweries in the city but the locals love Ghostfish brewing, Georgetown Brewing Company, and Fremont Brewing. Some neighborhoods to check out include Belltown which is perfect for grabbing drinks, Ballard which has a great brewery scene, and Queen Anne where you can get a taste of a variety of local craft beers.
